Femtosecond Laser based Post-Processing Free True Random Number Generator

Amritash Sharma , Prasanna Paithankar , Shailendra K Varshney

Abstract: We experimentally demonstrate a high-entropy source based on the intensity fluctuation in a femtosecond laser. The setup successfully passes statistical tests without any post-processing. The generator can be potentially used for quantum communication and cryptography.

Microring Resonators and its Applications

Sauradeep Kar, Sridhar Singhal, Prasanna Paithankar & Shailendra K Varshney

Abstract: Microring resonators (MRRs) are the most sought on-chip optical components after the optical waveguides due to versatile usages and functionalities whether in linear or nonlinear and quantum properties. A simple MRR geometry consists of one or two straight waveguides and circular or bent waveguides. Due to huge potential and versatility, we provide a comprehensive review on microring resonators that encompasses from material selection to applications and various configurations.

Tunable Graphene-Integrated Cascaded Silicon Microring Resonators

Prasanna Paithankar, Sridhar Singhal, Sauradeep Kar & Shailendra K Varshney

Abstract: We theoretically and numerically demonstrate a tunable graphene-integrated cascaded tapered racetrack microring resonator (TRMRR) system. We have derived transmission field amplitudes of such cascaded system without graphene. The deposition of graphene on the PNF region produces an optoelectronically tunable transmission with an appreciable extinction by harnessing the unique advantages of graphene and cascaded resonator system. The proposed device can be potentially used for sensing and modulator applications.
