IoT for Smart Healthcare

The advancement of wearable sensors and Internet of things (IoT) technologies has made it possible to develop smart healthcare systems, which can monitor important physiological parameters of patients remotely in real-time. In our initiatives in this direction in the SWAN research group, we designed systems, protocols, and algorithms that are capable of collecting different physiological parameters of patients using pervasive, ubiquitous, non-invasive, and wearable IoT sensors such as finger-tip body temperature sensor, pulse oximeter, ECG, and EMG. Using our solutions, doctors and other healthcare professionals can not only observe the health conditions of the patients remotely in real-time but also provide necessary aids accordingly. Additionally, our solutions are capable of sending the collected data to remote cloud servers over IoT networks, and preforming near-real-time and futre analysis on the archived data.
