I am working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. I obtained my Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2009 and Master of Technology (M Tech) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), both from IIT Guwahati, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. As a system researcher, my primary research interests is in the intersection of computer systems, human computer interaction and machine learning. More specifically, I work on various aspects of computer systems and networks, the development of assistive technologies for societal well-being, and the design of distributed, pervasive, and ubiquitous technologies over mobile devices and smartphones.
I am coordinating the System and Mobile Research Lab at IIT Kharagpur, focusing on various aspects of computer systems and networks along with the design and development of ubiquitous and pervasive sensing systems. I worked on multiple high-valued projects, sponsored by the Government of India as well as various industries like Intel, HPE, and BEL. I am an active member of the COMSNETS Association, India, IEEE COMSOC, ACM SIGCOMM, and ACM SIGMOBILE. I am one of the founding members of ACM IMOBILE, the ACM SIGMOBILE chapter in India. Currently, I am also working as an Area Editor of Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks journal. Based on my research output, I have received various awards and accolades including INAE Young Engineers’ Award, Fellow of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), and so on. I am actively involved in organizing various conferences including COMSNETS (as TPC Chair), IEEE ANTS (as TPC Chair), IEEE ICBC (as Publicity Chair), IEEE LCN (as TPC member), IEEE PerCom (as TPC member), etc., to name a few.
This work developed a hands-free smartphone typing platform for persons with dactylitis, sarcopenia, joint pains, etc.
In this joint work with IBM IRL, we developed a decentralized cross-network identity mangement framework over blockchains.
We developed an automated IMU data annotation method at the edge devices, with the help of acoustic information.
This work develops a private-public blockchain interoperability platform for closed consortium interfacing.
Rohit got the COMSNETS Best Ph.D. Thesis Award 2021.
The first paper exploits acoustic signatures to identify individuals in a smart environment. The second paper develops a smart hands-free mobile keyboard for persons with disabilities.
Abhijit has defended his Ph.D. Thesis. Prof. Bhimarjuna Reddy Tamma from IITH was his thesis examiner. He is currently working as a Senior Engineer at VDX.TV.
