I am a M.S. (by Research) research scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur under the supervision of Prof. K Sreenivasa Rao. My thesis work is based on Music Information Retrieval (MIR) for Hindustani classical music where melody and rhythm are two basic elements. The notes, different ornamentations, shape of melodic phrase, and strong and weak notes play an important role to constitute the melody line of Hindustani classical music. I have tried to detect the notes and ornamentations with its appropriate labeling such duration, onset, and offset instants. I have explored relevant features and different classification models such as naive Bayes, artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector machine (SVM) for the detection of notes and ornamentations.
